As acne heals, it can leave depressed or uneven scars on the skin. The type and depth of these scars differ from person to person, so treatment is often planned as a combination rather than a single method. At our clinic, acne scars are treated with filler and laser methods.
Depressed scars are lifted from beneath to bring them closer to the level of the surrounding skin. It gives quick results, and you return to daily life after the procedure. Because filler is temporary, its effect fades over time.
Fractional laser creates many microscopic channels in the skin to stimulate renewal and collagen production. Depressed scars become more superficial, skin texture smooths out, and color differences fade. Recovery time after each session is relatively short. For details, see the Laser Treatments page.
For deep depressed scars, support with filler can be planned first, followed by laser resurfacing of the skin. The method is chosen at the examination according to the type of scar.
With laser, 3–5 sessions are usually planned about 3–4 weeks apart. After three sessions, a noticeable reduction in scars can be achieved. Results vary from person to person.
After laser, redness, mild peeling, and tenderness can last a few days. Sun protection is important. After filler, mild swelling and bruising may occur.
The goal is to reduce scars noticeably and smooth the skin; complete disappearance cannot be guaranteed.
Active acne is usually brought under control first. The decision is made at the examination.
Depending on the type and depth of the scar, filler, laser, or a combination of both is recommended.
