Rhinoplasty (nose aesthetic surgery) is an operation that aims to bring the size, shape, and proportions of the nose into harmony with the face. When performed as septorhinoplasty, aesthetic concerns such as the nasal bridge, tip shape, and symmetry can be corrected in the same session along with functional problems such as a deviated septum that makes breathing difficult.
People who are bothered by the nasal bridge, tip shape, width, or symmetry.
Candidates who have difficulty breathing due to a deviated septum or structural narrowing.
People whose bone and cartilage growth is complete and who are in good general health.
A plan is created by evaluating the structure of the nose, skin thickness, respiratory function, and expectations.
Under general anesthesia, the bone and cartilage structure is reshaped using an open or closed technique; it usually takes 2–3 hours.
A temporary splint is placed on the nose; recovery is monitored with regular check-ups.
Mild swelling, bruising, and a feeling of nasal congestion are normal; resting with your head elevated is recommended.
The splint is removed after 1 week, and visible swelling and bruising largely subside within a few weeks.
Fine swelling gradually decreases, and the final shape of the nose becomes apparent within 6–12 months.
It varies with the complexity of the case, but it usually takes 2–3 hours.
Once visible bruising and swelling have resolved, you can usually return to daily life within 1–2 weeks.
Although the initial shape appears within a few weeks, it can take 6–12 months for swelling in the fine tissues to go down completely.
